Richard Hylton was Fellow in Visual Arts at the University of Bradford between 1996 and 1999. The fellowship scheme included fellows in music and theatre and was an ambitious initiative for a university without formal academic art courses. Alongside the Fellow in visual arts were fellows in music and theatre. Richard Hylton ran Gallery II, presenting mainly solo exhibitions and events with a regional, national and international focus involving artists including Nudrat Afza, Faisal Abdu’ Allah, Deborah Benjamin, Sabera Bham, Frank Bowling, Tim Brennan, Chila Kumari Burman, Adam Chodzko, Mildred Howard, Tam Joseph, Raksha Patel, Mick Robertson & John Goodwin, Julia Spicer and Jane Ward. A number of these projects were devised and organised by invited independent curators Godfrey Burke, Eddie Chambers, Bisi Silva and Kate Smith.
